We're excited to announce that we've been recognized as a Top Workplace for 2019 by The Hartford Courant! This award is especially important to us because it is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey. The anonymous employee survey measured several aspects of workplace culture including alignment, execution and connection, just to name a few.
Global Help Desk Services Inc. owners, Steve and Karen Wetherell, recently sat down for a Q&A discussion to talk about this award and what it means to them and their employees.
What does it mean to you to be named a top workplace in Hartford?
This award is a true testament to our efforts and recognizes that our greatest asset is our employees. When we continue to invest in our employees, we continue to provide exceptional customer service to our clients around the globe.
If you could offer other companies advice on how to become a top workplace in Hartford, what would you tell them?
You want to recognize and award your employees for their achievements. You also want to provide your employees with predictable, repeatable processes for two reasons: First, it lets them know what’s expected of them when they come to work and second, it lets customers know what to expect when they do business with you. In effect, it eliminates chaos or at least mitigates it from affecting people’s attitudes and expectations. Finally, you want to create a culture of unity so that employees can lean on one another for support and can create and foster positive relationships.
Why would prospective employees want to work for Global Help Desk Services vs. another company?
Prospective employees will be valued here and will enjoy coming into work each day. Our leadership style promotes a culture of unity where employees support each other and recognize each other's achievements. Our benefits package includes 401K, medical, dental, life, vacation, holiday, and sick time, which is comparable to many of the larger companies in Hartford. Lastly, prospective employees will be placed in situations that will challenge both their IT and customer service skills, so there will always be opportunities to learn and expand their help desk knowledge.
